Thankful for:I am thankful for all the blessings God has given me. He has blessed me with: my wonderful children, my adoring husband, loving friends and family, the best co-workers I could ever ask for, the best company to work for, for our very first home purchased July 2013, for the ability to be able to help others, for the mentors that have walked me through some very challenging times, for the people who never gave up on me, and for God’s relentless forgiveness of my sins. I am thankful that my oldest son (who has Asperger’s Syndrome and other mental health illnesses) has had THE BEST last 5 months ever! I am thankful to our county service coordinator who was able to fund “special need summer day camps” which helped my son tremendously (it’s like a complete 180 change for the better)! All of which God sent to us and answered my prayers! So I am most thankful for God giving me these blessings in my life!

The History of Charity Week

With your support over the past 25 years, we’ve been able to do a lot more than grow our business…you’ve also enabled us to do great things for our communities. It’s never more obvious than during our annual Charity Week, when a percentage of every order a customer places goes to supporting a good cause.

Charity Week has come a long way since its start, and now that we’re in the midst of our 7 ½ Annual Charity Week, we thought it’d be interesting to take a look back at the other Charity Weeks we’ve hosted over the years!

Our first official Charity Week was held in 2006. Allied Wire & Cable has always been a big supporter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, so it was fitting that our support continued with the first annual Charity Week, where we raised more than $8,000 to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. That’s enough to fund at least one full wish.

Allied Wire Charity Week

The Allied family presents its 1st “big check” to Make-A-Wish.

Have you heard the saying, “charity begins at home?” Well, it was the perfect motto for our Second Annual Charity Week. The money raised benefitted Phyllis Rose, long time receptionist and member of the Allied Wire & Cable family, who was undergoing cancer treatment at the time. Phyllis took the phrase “Allied family” to the next level – today, her daughter, Desiree is an Allied Wire & Cable Sales Assistant and her sister, Deb, is a warehouse manager at our PA headquarters. Phyllis and her family used the donation to help pay for medical expenses. Read more of this post

The Philadelphia Top 25

We’re celebrating Allied Wire & Cable’s hometown, Philadelphia, all month long! It’s part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations, so we thought it’d be fun to share 25 of the most-loved things to come from the City of Brotherly Love!

1. The first computer – The ENIAC, built at Penn’s Moore School of Electrical Engineering starting in 1943, and announced to the public in 1946.

2. Rocky – With six films under his belt, and a rumored seventh to come, we hear that his favorite gig was still being a part of the Allied Wire & Cable Philadelphia Giveaway Extravaganza episode.

3. Soft pretzels – Mustard was also invented in Philly…perfect combination!

4. Declaration of Independence – Adopted on July 4, 1776 by the Continental Congress in Philadelphia, and one of the reasons Philadelphia is known as the “cradle of liberty” and “the birthplace of America.”

5. Wilt Chamberlain – The only player to score 100 points in a single NBA game. Read more of this post
